A few months ago, I acquired a 24 TS-E and then sold it to start a search for a wide fast prime as its replacement. While the 24 TS-E is a great lens, despite being the version 1, I felt that I could never be able to use it to its full potential. It was designed more for landscaping, architecture and interior photographs and I wanted to use it for portraits and weddings, utilizing mostly the tilt feature.
I always have an itch for a wide fast prime. I have the 35L but since I'm shooting with a 1Ds MkII and a 1D MKIII, the field of view changes a bit depends on the camera. On the 1DsII, the lens is great but on the 1DMKIII with it's 1.3x crop, it's not too wide and became more of a normal view.
I found a used 24L version 1 from POTN forum and jumped on it. It was a refurbished with some minor body blemishes but man, this lens captures beautiful and sharp images - not bad for being the first version. I couldn't imagine what the newer MKII would be like. :)
As usual, I took the kids to a local park to give the lens a work out. I also brought the 135L and have some of the pics from it posted here too just for kicks. All images were shot with the 1Ds MKII in RAW and converted via Lightroom.
These below were shot with the 135L.
